I pick up my tools every day because I want to create something truly unique.
For me, every piece of furniture has to feel special – as distinctive as the living wood it comes from and as individual as the person who commissions it. No two projects are ever the same, and that’s exactly why I build everything by hand.
I began making bespoke furniture because I could never understand buying something “off the shelf” when I knew I could craft it better myself. That same conviction drives my work today: beautiful, one-off pieces that are made to last and made for you. If you’re going to live with something every day, it should be something you love.
Working with wood has always felt natural. Every tree tells a different story, and my job is to honour that character – whether I’m creating a live-edge dining table, a fitted wardrobe, a bespoke kitchen or a simple piece of custom joinery. I choose each piece of timber carefully, studying its grain, texture and movement so the finished piece feels alive long after it leaves the workshop.
Creativity like this takes time: time to understand what you want, time to agree a shared vision, and time to craft a result that exceeds it. The relationship with a client is as important as the craftsmanship itself.
My partner Sophie and I spent four years restoring the Makers Mill in Keswick – a space dedicated to showcasing the creativity of Cumbria’s craft community. It is now home to my workshop and showroom, a place where I design, build and exhibit the furniture I create.
